Financing & Grants

There are eight ways most of our students finance their courses. Read about each of them then give us a call. Part of our job is to help you get financing.

  1. Students Loans
  2. Bank Loans/Student Line of Credit
  3. Government Training Funds
  4. Band Funding for First Nations
  5. Corporate Sponsorship
  6. Credit or Debit Card
  7. School Financing
  8. Personal Loans

Student Loans
This is a very popular way to fund your studies. You receive an excellent interest rate and do not have to start making payments until 6 months after graduation. You may also be entitled to grant money. Application forms are available at the school and we will be happy to answer any questions for you regarding your application. As a private school, you will be required to submit and Appendix 3, which is filled out by the school along with your application.

Bank Loans/Student Line of Credit
Most major banks offer loans for educational purposes. Once again you receive a preferred interest rate. You do however have to make payments a month after borrowing the money.

Government Training Funds
If you have been on Employment Insurance in the past three years, you can meet with a consultant at the HRDC office and be referred to different funding opportunities sponsored by EI.

There is also a program available that gives employers funds to pay for additional training for new employees. Check this out with your local Government Office.

Band Funding for First Nations
Many Bands have funding for training purposes. You usually have to request an application from them and plan well in advance. If they do not have any funds left for the year, they may consider providing you with living expenses if you pay for your own education (via student loans or other arrangements). Each Band may handle this differently, so it is best to check with them directly.

Corporate Sponsorship
Many organizations are more than willing to pay for employee education if it is to the benefit of the company. Check into your company's policy in this matter.

Credit or Debit Card
Academy of Learning, Kamloops accepts Visa and American Express for payment of their courses. You may also use your Debit Card.

School Financing
Academy of Learning, Kamloops offers you the opportunity to pay one half of your tuition upon registration for Diploma and Certificate programs and the balance half way through your program. You may also pay one course at a time as you take them.

Personal Loans

You might be surprised by the number of relatives you have who will help finance your education, if they see you have made a sound decision on a specific career and made all the necessary arrangements to help make it happen.
